Position Title: Climbing Wall Instructor

Position Summary: The climbing wall instructor will be responsible for teaching climbing skills to individuals and groups, ensuring safety and proper technique at all times, and maintaining the climbing wall and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach individuals and groups of all ages and skill levels how to climb, including proper equipment use, safety procedures, and climbing techniques
  • Provide instruction on belaying, rappelling, and other advanced climbing skills, as appropriate
  • Monitor and enforce safety rules and procedures, including the use of appropriate safety equipment and the proper use of the climbing wall
  • Maintain the climbing wall and equipment, including cleaning and performing routine inspections and maintenance
  • Provide assistance and guidance to climbers as needed, including spotting and offering feedback on technique
  • Develop and implement climbing programs and events, such as clinics, competitions, and team building exercises
  • Promote the climbing wall and programs through marketing and outreach efforts, such as social media and community events
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, contributing ideas for improving climbing programs and operations

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience teaching climbing, preferably in a commercial or educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups
  • Knowledge of climbing equipment, techniques, and safety procedures
  • Positive attitude and high energy level, with a passion for teaching and promoting climbing
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and comply with climbing wall policies and procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb and belay, as necessary, and to participate in physical activities associated with climbing

This is a seasonal position, with the duration of employment depending on the length of the camp program. The camp counselor will report to the camp program director.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $460.40 - $517.16 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
