We're looking for someone who is willing to continue learning every single day, through in hospital training and continued education courses.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY:

Everyone on our team is required to become Fear Free Certified (of course we pay for it, why wouldn't we?!) in order to reduce fear, stress and anxiety in our patients. We don't just go through the modules either. Fear Free is a way of life at Animal Hospital of Lake Villa. We use various treat thresholds and specific handling techniques to achieve this. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we cook about 60 lbs. of chicken a month. EVERY SINGLE MONTH. We have found that the Fear Free approach is not only the best way to deliver treatments, it increases staff morale and minimizes dangerous situations. We don't wrestle cats or dogs and our patients, they LOVE coming through our doors.

Of course, you know we're AAHA accredited! We believe that animals deserve the very best medicine and that education is our number one priority. Everyone wants to take care of their beloved animal companions, it's just our responsibility to spread the word on how to do so. We take our AAHA protocols very seriously and strive towards constant improvement. If you want to be on this team, then be ready to put these protocols into action AND explain them to our clients. Don't worry, we'll help you do this.

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is the same as yours, to help as many animals as possible receive compassionate care with high quality medicine. You will be responsible in assisting the doctor see and treat patients every day, while we together revolutionize veterinary medicine to keep the patients’ well-being in mind. This includes putting our AAHA protocols and Fear Free standards into practice every single day. Your duties would include routing communication, scheduling appointments, handling and collecting payments, making various types of phone calls, and assisting clients with their needs. If you have experience, that's wonderful, but we are willing to train the right person!

OUR LOCATION:

The rapidly growing area of Lake Villa is located in the Chain O’Lakes with neighboring towns like Grayslake, Round Lake, Gurnee, Antioch, Fox Lake, Mundelein, Vernon Hills, and more. Only a 40-minute drive from downtown Chicago, it makes for a great escape into a roaring nightlife, lots of history, and amazing sites. Other local attractions include Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills Mall which are only a 10-minute drive from the Animal Hospital itself!

WHERE WE’RE GOING:

Animal Hospital of Lake Villa has been in business for over 25 years. We are currently a 3 doctor practice, rapidly expanding with goals of becoming a 5 doctor practice in 3 -5 years. Animal Hospital of Lake Villa hopes to achieve this by continuing to learn the best practices for Veterinary Medicine as well as add on specialized services in treating exotic pets and Mobile Services. This won’t be easy! It will require a lot of personal growth for all of our team members as well as professional goal attainment. We’re certainly up for that challenge, are you?

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Computer Keyboarding skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Handling a register and collecting payment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of preventative care for feline and canine patients.

PERSONALITY AND BEHAVIORAL CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED:

  • You must be extremely performance driven.
  • You must be an excellent communicator with a high affinity for staff, patients, and clients.
  • You must be able to work swiftly with the entire team.
  • You must always be open to training and education, as we are an ever-evolving practice.
  • You must be a go-getter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner, no matter how hard it is.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Your salary package will be competitive and experience driven. Benefits included in your package are 100% paid health insurance and dental insurance, 401k benefits with 4% matching on 5 % contribution, paid time off, veterinary service discounts and job perks like free lunches, continued education, and advancement opportunities. Remote work from home is only available after the orientation period and for a few days out of the week. You will still be required to work in the clinic some days.
