General Labor Clean Up Crew People Wanted!! (Entry Level) Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $21.87

Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is looking for talented individuals to join our Scotia, CA Sawmill for our Clean Up Crew. This is an entry level position with the high potential for growth.

You must be willing to work Swing / Night Shift (5pm - 2 AM). Swing/Night Shift offers an additional Shift Premium. You will typically start training on day shift before transitioning to our swing shift hours.

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) located in Scotia, CA was formed in July 2008 through the reorganization of the former Pacific Lumber Company and related entities. Humboldt Redwood consists of forestry as well as lumber manufacturing and distribution operations. Responsibilities:
Keeps production areas clean and safe and assists in other areas of sawmill in a safe and productive manner .
  • Keeps designated areas, as assigned by supervisor, clean and clear of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips and other foreign objects;
  • Operates chain saw to cut up scrap lumber and broken logs;
  • Uses hand tools to move sawdust, chips and bark into conveyors, bins and scoop on tractor;
  • Operates Bobcat and forklift to transport debris to conveyors or disposal site;
  • May pull strips off of transfer chains into conveyors to chippers;
  • May keep lumber straight on transfer chains to trimmer;
  • Empties all garbage cans in and around sawmill;
  • Provides assistance where needed.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • 1 months related experience and/or training.
  • Preferred forklift license or ability to train to obtain license
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos and write simple sentences.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
