A Childcare Caregiver or Daycare Teacher Aide is responsible for all aspects of the care & education of the children enrolled in their class: physical caregiving, developmental assessments, following an age-appropriate curricular plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with the director, co-workers, parents, and students.

Daycare Teacher Aide / Child Caregiver Job Summary:

We are seeking leaders in the education field to rise up and grow within our company. We are seeking a Teacher. Are you ready to join not just a job, but a family? Able to care for and assist children who are in Preschool, and/or Pre-K, in a variety of situations. Communicate effectively to children and their families, fellow coworkers, and anybody who is involved in the work field.

Be creative in developing and participating in activities for children. Able to respond in emergencies and follow the guidelines layout by DHS and the center. Ensure that the environment is safe and child-proof daily.

Education Training, and Experience Required:

  • Registered as Early Childhood Teacher in Department of Human Services
  • Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education from accredited College or University and a miminum of 6 months experience working in an Early Childhood Education program.

Or

  • CDA and a minimum of 1 year experience working in an Early Childhood Education Program

Or

  • 60 Credits in a Degree Program and, Certificate in Early Childhood (16 Credits) and minimum of 1 year experience working in an Early Childhood Education Program

Or

  • Bachelors in Elementary Education from an accredited College or University and, 6 Credits in approved ECE and/or CD courses (may be part of Bachelors Degree) and a minimum of 6 months experience working in an Early Childhood Education program

Or

  • Bachelors in any field from an accredited College or University and 12 Credits in approved ECE and/or CD courses (may be part of Bachelors degree) with a minimum or 6 months experience working in an Early Childhood Education program

Skills

  • Early Child Development knowledge and experience
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude and disposition
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities
  • Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being
  • Must be able to manage confidential information
  • All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children, therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions, as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression, and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

  • Frequently walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talks or hears
  • Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Change diapers if needed
