This individual will work in collaboration with the members of the executive team and independently, as necessary, to create and publish in-depth financial reports and analyses, and provide visibility for stakeholders into the sales trends, operational processes, and systems infrastructure to support sustained growth. The CFO will manage the Director of Pricing, Controller, FP&A Manager, and other members of the finance and accounting team, and oversee the IT and HR department. The CFO should be a high energy, commercially oriented, and strategically minded individual. The CFO should have strong communication abilities and help facilitate metrics-based management, business development decisions, and day-to-day problem-solving with the CEO and functional leadership. An intellectually curious disposition and sophisticated people management skills – including effective organizational design, recruiting and talent development – are also essential. The role will be based in Livonia, Michigan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities and priorities for the CFO will include:

  • Serve as a business partner and strategic advisor to the CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership Team. Provide insight and analysis focused on critical business levers while actively contributing to the evolution and the execution of strategic business plans. This includes working with business leaders to develop solutions to problems and/or opportunity areas and holding business leaders accountable to financial targets.
  • Develop a financially disciplined long-term planning process, driving the delivery of clearly defined financial and operational targets.
  • Build an integrated framework that encompasses all aspects of financial planning, forecasting and reporting, controls and procedures, accounting, internal audit, MIS and capital spending.
  • Develop operating metrics (OTIF, warehouse efficiency, detailed inventory reports, etc.) to drive efficiencies at the Company’s distribution centers, logistics network, and customer service department.
  • Provide support in reviewing and improving the Company’s pricing strategy and supply chain management function.
  • Prioritize capital expenditure opportunities by the highest return on investment, and provide financial support for rollout of showroom and facility upgrades.
  • Ensure that the Board of Directors and all levels of the organization are provided with accurate, timely and relevant financial reports and other information.
  • Analyze the organizational structure and business processes within the finance and accounting department and benchmark against corporate governance best practices to ensure maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead the Company’s finance, treasury and risk management functions. Prudently manage the Company’s balance sheet including cash flow, capital investments, working capital, liquidity needs, debt levels and manage the banking relationships in support of the Company’s strategies.
  • Provide leadership to the finance and accounting department, ensuring that the function is properly organized, staffed, developed, motivated and compensated. Develop career paths that include rotations across finance and other disciplines and utilize best-in-class talent management systems. Instill a culture within the finance and accounting teams that emphasizes transparency as well as a focus on supporting the business with timely, accurate reporting, actionable information, and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Build morale by listening to team members to solicit feedback. Develop genuine relationships and inspire trust in your leadership, so others will be intrinsically motivated to contribute.
  • Utilize the Company’s ERP and business intelligence/analytics systems in place to create and monitor financial and operational metrics and drive a culture of accountability across the Company.
  • Analyze sales data to determine best practices and go-to-market strategies (including pipeline management/CRM data) across the integrated businesses to drive revenue synergies and develop new sales opportunities.
  • Partner with business leaders to support due diligence, analysis, negotiation, deal structuring, and other activities associated with potential future mergers and acquisitions.
  • Enhance the strong relationships the Company enjoys with its key vendors, most of which have lasted for over two decades.
  • Strengthen shared services capabilities and business efficiency. Consolidate redundant back office systems or employee positions. Continuously examine and implement measures to drive costs out of the business.
