HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER ROLE

To help support our profitable growth, we are now searching for a full-time associate as a Chief Financial Officer to help our CEO/President grow a profitable business. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver who has strong communication skills and pays close attention to detail. They will need to think holistically and proactively to improve the effectiveness of the executive leadership team, the overall organization, its strategy, and its processes. This candidate ought to have prior experience working in a fast-paced environment, performing administrative duties, and supporting a manufacturing company, and should have meticulous and exceptional organizational skills. This individual will be a self-starter and self-motivator, able to execute with minimal direction. This role will report directly to the CEO/President, be based in our headquarters in La Grange, Illinois, and must work on-site. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will drive the company's financial performance improvements while positively impacting the overall business and its performance. This is an impact CFO role, not a maintenance role. The CFO will act as a key advisor, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Grayhill's Board of Directors and serving as a member of the Leadership Team. He/She will provide a transparent and consolidated view and translation of the business's analytics and insights. These strategic insights will positively influence and guide Grayhill's most significant business decisions. In addition, the CFO will articulate the vision for Finance across both the department and the corporation, lead the process of conceptualizing and creating a financial strategy, then develop and oversee its execution using systematic automated processes.

The CFO will effectively lead a team of Finance, Accounting, Facilities, Information Technology, and Human Resources professionals. He/She is responsible for developing, enhancing, and overseeing the financials to support the business as it grows. These include Controls, Accounting, Financial Reporting, Banking, Benefits, Legal Contract Negotiations, Risk Management, Facilities, Information Technology, and Human Resources/Administration.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While reporting to the CEO/President, the broader scope of responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer includes, but is not limited to:

  • Hire, terminate, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Associates.
  • Provide continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.
  • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, monthly consolidated financial statements, and financial trends to assist the CEO, the Board, and other members of the Leadership Team in performing their responsibilities.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
  • Develop team leaders and provide one on one support.
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes a minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the company may enter.
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, the introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.
  • Interact regularly with members of the Leadership Team to ensure their business unit operational priorities are aligned with the total company direction.
  • Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans and programs to identify talent within and outside the company for positions of responsibility. Identify appropriate and effective external sources for candidates for all levels within the company.
  • Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance and to provide programs that utilize an employee and company partnership for the short and long-range health and welfare protection of the employees.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE'S QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree in business administration. An MBA in Finance is preferred (not required), and either a Certified Management Accountant or Certified Public Accountant certification. The candidate should have ten-plus years of related experience directing Finance/ Accounting of a > $75M manufacturing company using an integrated global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (preferably SAP S/4HANA). The candidate must have advanced experience with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and PowerPoint) and other productivity tools and be willing to learn new software and systems when necessary. They must have outstanding project management, writing, and verbal communication skills. And the candidate must possess the ability to handle challenging interactions with the utmost professionalism and emotional intelligence.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS, LOCATION, AND TRAVEL

The successful candidate will be required to be a United States person. This position will be based and located at Grayhill's LaGrange, Illinois headquarters. Candidates must be fluent, both written and verbal, in English.
