We are looking for a talented Certifying Scientist I to join our Lab Operations team in Flagstaff, AZ. Certifying Scientist I is primarily responsible for initial review of data from LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, GC/MS, and GC/FID instrumentation. Duties include but are not limited to: Initial review of calibration curves and QC data, confirmation data and instrument troubleshooting, feedback to the Confirmations team on instrument performance, communication with upstream departments and record keeping, and enforcement of acceptance criteria policies and procedures.
The schedule for this position will be Tuesday through Saturday 12:00AM to 8:30AM.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  • First Initial review of Confirmation data from LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, and GC/FID instrumentation
  • Provide feedback to Confirmations maintenance team on assay integrity and performance
  • Applies knowledge and skills to produce quality work and facilitate meeting TAT goals
  • Responsible for meeting minimum productivity requirements.
  • Directs efforts towards production areas that need assistance
  • Personal accountability for attendance, productivity, training, and technical incidents
  • Read and comply with: SOPs, regulations, best practices, guidelines, standards, policies and procedures
  • Participate in safety training, follow laboratory guidelines including hazardous materials and waste handling, life safety, medical equipment safety, accident reporting and security
  • Assist with new technology and implementation of such
  • Collaborate with co-workers, managers and other supervisors to solve work-related problems within or between departments; answering and resolving questions/issues daily
  • Follow work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals, respond to fluctuating workloads, and improve quality and productivity of laboratory operations
  • Participate in employee training for equipment, software and other laboratory operations
  • Special projects as assigned
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in a science field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Pre-med (Biomed), Forensics & Toxicology), required
  • Experience as a senior lab tech or analysis, strongly preferred
  • Agilent LC/MS/MS operation and maintenance experience, preferred
  • Additional related experience or formal education a plus


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Horizon Laboratory Information Systems software preferred
  • Knowledge of CAP and CLIA desirable
  • Quickly and accurately handle incoming test flow processes
  • Data entry skills via a keyboard (alpha and numeric) required
  • Strong eye-hand coordination
  • Able to handle a high volume environment while maintaining the highest level of quality

Physical Requirements:
  • Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.) -Heavier weights with assistance
  • Sitting & standing for long periods of time
  • Repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use
  • Working at a fast pace, subject to many interruptions and both physical and mental stress
