We are seeking a Controller to be responsible for assuring the accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions and preparation of reports/vouchers for internal/external users based at our Corporate Office in Muncie, Indiana.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Verify accuracy of general ledger and supporting journals, including reconciliation of account balances to supporting documentation and preparation of journal entries;
  • Prepare required financial reports, tax returns, State claims and data reports, and any other reports of a financial nature;
  • Direct supervision of accounting department to assure timeliness, accuracy, and consistency of postings to the general ledger;
  • Responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of accounting department
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees, performance appraisals and addressing performance concerns.
  • Review cash balance/transfer reports for proper management of short-term cash;
  • Review or prepare bank reconciliations;
  • Maintain fixed asset inventory and related depreciation schedules;
  • Function as internal auditor to extent necessary to maintain adequate systems of internal controls
  • Establishes, or recommends to management, major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company.
  • Recommends modifications to existing corporate programs.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provides management with timely reviews of organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  • Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
  • Perform other works and assignments as needed and/or directed by management.

Controller Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an accountant using an automated system
  • Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and payroll tax regulations
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality of client and payroll information
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products
  • Prior supervision experience of an accounting department
  • General knowledge or previous experience with ADP
  • CPA Required
  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
