The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) seeks a Special Assistant in Washington, DC to work directly with its President and CEO to manage organizational issues, engage in research, and advise on transatlantic policy areas. This individual would support CEPA’s mission by preparing the President and CEO in all external and internal engagements, including conducting relevant policy research, support in drafting papers, opinion pieces, presentations, and speeches related to European-US relations, handling strategic outreach, and supporting the development and implementation of new and institutional strategies on core policy issues.


The successful candidate will be emotionally intelligent, discreet, collegial, engaging, reliable, and exceptionally organized. The individual will report to the President and CEO and will be based in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
    Work directly with the President & CEO to manage organizational issues, conduct research, engage with high-level stakeholders, and advise on transatlantic policy areas.
    Support and advise the President & CEO in all aspects of transatlantic policy priorities, including in the drafting of papers, opinion pieces, blog posts, presentations, speeches, media talking points, concept notes, and congressional testimonies.
    Work with the President & CEO and the Senior Vice President on developing and implementing new institutional policies.
    Assist the President & CEO and the Senior Vice President in monitoring of progress on team goals and initiatives, prioritization, action planning, and problem solving.
    Review, proofread, and approve internal and external documents and communication.
    Coordinate across programs to ensure smooth collaboration and a solutions-based approach to problems.
    Engage with external and internal stakeholders to align on strategic priorities and help drive decisions in all aspects of CEPA’s operations and high-level strategic outreach.
    Be responsible for the preparation, collection, and presentation of key meeting materials for the President & CEO.
    Liaise with internal and external teams to ensure proper preparation of the President & CEO for business meetings, trips, and other engagements.
    Develop and maintain a list of critical projects and priorities for which the President & CEO’s awareness and involvement would be essential.
    Lead and manage special projects at the request of the President & CEO.
Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, or related field.
    At least two years of experience in a think tank or similar policy-focused setting responsible for research and programmatic support focusing on US-European relations.
    Experience arranging high-level engagements, coordinating diplomatic communications, and working with senior-level executives is strongly desired.
    Established network of European and US government officials, private sector leaders, academics, and other experts is a plus.
    Excellent organizational and project management skills, including high level of attention to detail and follow-up.
    Superior oral and written communication skills.
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment, follow diplomatic protocol, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    Willingness and ability to work on late evenings or weekends, as required.
