Central Sterile Instrument Coordinator

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shifts from 10:00am-6:30pm

Location: Medical City Dallas Hospital

Central Sterile Instrument Coordinator Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Central Sterile Instrument Coordinator is responsible for ordering, tracking, and receiving of surgical instruments, supplies, physical set building, vendor/OR coordinating, and backup inventory maintenance, instructions for use (IFU) documentation, workflow process improvements, and generally maintaining an adequate level of instruments necessary for the efficient functioning of customer departments. The Instrument Coordinator will be the department liaison to biomed, to assist in streamlining repair requests, prioritizing immediate OR needs, driving down replacement costs, developing education opportunities in collaboration with department educator to reduce damage caused by care and handling issues. Will be knowledgeable and able to demonstrate an understanding of the equipment and chemicals used in reprocessing reusable instruments and the ability to include handling and decontamination of soiled instrument, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Will be responsible for updating Instrument Tracking System Data and ensuring all scanning protocols are followed consistently.

Central Sterile Instrument Coordinator Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a central sterile processing technician required
  • Certification required in IAHCSMM or CBSPD
