New Day Recovery of Newton Falls Ohio is looking to hire an additional Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) to join our growing team! Our facility is designed to meet the unique needs of our clients undergoing withdrawal management. The CDCA is responsible for providing client assessments, monthly counseling, crisis intervention and other services to assist the client in the treatment process. The CDCA will report directly to the Program Director. This is a hourly, full-time position with hours and schedule established to meet client needs; evening and weekend hours will be required. Hourly wage will be equal to or above industry average.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of New Day Recovery.
  • Make referrals for other mental health / higher level of care.
  • Act as an advocate for program participants with courts, schools, treatment centers, and other services as appropriate in order to make referrals and conduct follow-ups.
  • Provide individual counseling, engage clients, family sessions (if asked).
  • Provide outreach and case management to primary clients.
  • Prepare written reports, regular case dictation and summaries for consultation according to program standards and professional ethics.
  • Participate in curriculum development and supervision of clients.
  • Participates in staffing meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Combination of experience and education normally represented by High School Diploma with 1-2 years relevant work experience required. Have completed 40 hours of education in chemical dependency counseling/clinical methods.
  • Must have a CDCA certification
  • Must have knowledge and experience working with alcohol/drug assessment and case management.
  • Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must possess group work skills.
  • Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and familiarity of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with a team of professional staff desirable.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to relate with empathy and sensitivity to staff, clients and the community.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities in a facility with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical transportation.
