The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Child Protection Area of the Human Services Public Health (HSPH) department is seeking a Case Management Assistant to join their team. The Case Management Assistant will provide administrative support to Children and Family Services (CFS) personnel.


Location and hours:

This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at a Hennepin County Human Service Center location, and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

This is a full-time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Hennepin County to apply for this position.

In this position, you will:

  • Act as a liaison with specific vendors to assist CFS personnel in obtaining excellent services.
  • Assist relatives with foster care licensing (in person, virtually and over the phone).
  • Supervise visits between parents and children.
  • Monitor and track the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) active efforts and communicate with the Department of Human Services (DHS).
  • Collaborate with our tribal partners and gathering necessary documents for case reviews.
  • Input, modify and export data from the SSIS and electronic case file system and create reports as needed.

Need to have:
  • One of the following:
    • Two years or more of responsible, paid social service experience providing direct client service.
    • A two-year human services certificate.
    • Two years or more of college coursework in the behavioral sciences.
Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Using databases and performing data entry where accuracy is essential.
    • Working and connecting with clients of all ages from culturally diverse backgrounds and marginalized communities.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social services available to clients.
  • Ability to:
    • Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and manage time.
    • Work effectively and communicate with individuals from a variety of cultural and lifestyle backgrounds in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.
    • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, and the public.
