Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Performs knowledge in skilled finish and rough carpentry work for the renovation of the interior and exterior of campus buildings by using blueprints and specifications and appropriate tools and/or equipment while following safe, productive and cost effective methods including but not limited to wall layouts, framing, drywall, ceilings and doors. Performs material take-off measurements to determine the amount of materials and labor cost required to complete each project assigned. Build new walls from both metal or wood materials as indicated on architectural drawings. This includes but is not limited to the specific characteristics assigned to the 5 levels of finished grade. Performs all work in accordance with all local, state, and federal rules and regulations to include the International Building Code (IBC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This also includes all National Fire Code requirements related to fire protection in building envelops and all penetrations and specific assemblies of a variety of wall systems and materials.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and 2 or more years of experience in framing and sheet rocking.
Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma and 4 years experience in commercial carpentry trade for construction. Must have knowledge of national and local code requirements.

Have a valid driver’s license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must maintain considerable knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in building maintenance and construction. Must maintain knowledge and skill of the techniques and methods used in the carpentry trade
