    Role Overview
    Provides supervision and support to the middle and high school career coaches. Broad responsibilities include meeting with the career coaches in the schools and assisting them with planning for students beyond high school in collaboration with the school counselor and student intervention specialist. Plans and prepares career activities and fairs for secondary students and will work collaboratively with the school counseling and career technology education departments.

    Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with relevant job experience.
    • Ability to accurately compile, analyze, and present statistical reports and data.
    • Ability to effectively organize work, establish priorities, manage time effectively, and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to use creativity and originality in assisting in designing programs and curriculum, creating partnerships, and developing services.
    • Ability to earn the Global Career Development Facilitator certification within the first year of employment.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships through exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor staff/students and collaborate with all stakeholders.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to be flexible and demonstrate quality customer service.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Ability to perform the job’s essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Knowledge of career development, local training schools, community services/employment opportunities, and apprenticeship models.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources.
    • Experience in working with adolescents and understanding the developmental needs of this age group.

    Role Responsibilities
    • Provide strategic direction, collaboration, and support services to administrators, school staff, and central Work in collaboration with Western Maryland Consortium staff and Hagerstown Community College career and advising staff to create career programs, source employers, and create opportunities for exploration in work and academic options.
    • Supervise and support the career coaches’ work with individual and small groups of students with career exploration through Naviance and individualized career counseling services to identify potential careers and post-College and Career Readiness (CCR) pathways to prepare for their chosen careers.
    • Provide opportunities to career coaches to support high school students by connecting them to employment and apprenticeship opportunities in collaboration with the Apprenticeship Coordinator and Western Maryland Consortium staff.
    • Plan career development activities/programs, including college, technical school, business tours, job-embedded field trips, career/college fairs, and speakers in collaboration with school counselors, career coaches, and school-to-career liaison.
    • Provide professional development for career coaches on how to advise students on apprenticeship and career pathways that lead to industry-recognized credentials, education, occupational training, and work experience.
    • Collaborate with school counselors and student intervention specialists to support the student’s post-secondary education?and career interests and understand the CCR tracking tool used at each high school to ensure all students are developing post-secondary plans.
    • Assist with apprenticeship monitoring and site visits, which may include travel. Travel will be reimbursed per WCPS policy.
    • Coordinate with school counselors to promote and track student service learning opportunities and expectations.
    • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
    • Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs. on an irregular basis.
    • Required prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and other office equipment.
    • Will be subjected to loud noises, interactions, and traffic flow associated with a highly populated office environment.
    • Ability to work prolonged and irregular hours when needed.
    • Ability to travel district-wide as necessary.
