Summary Description
Outreach to area colleges, develop student leadership, and grow a cross-campus program integrated with the Sanctuary Boston community.

About Sanctuary Boston
Sanctuary Boston is a community of vibrant worship and real connection, grounded in Unitarian Universalism and open to seekers of all kinds. Our contemporary worship gatherings are rooted in participatory music and ritual. Our theology is progressive, centered in justice, equity, and compassion. We meet for worship every other Wednesday evening, offer small groups for spiritual growth and connection, coordinate mutual support through our community care team, and run other programs grounded in our values.

About Sanctuary’s Boston Area Campus Ministry
Sanctuary Boston is growing one of the largest UU Campus Ministry programs in the country. We're bringing together students from all over the Boston area to connect for worship, small groups, and other programs. Last year, we expanded our vision and began partnering with student leaders to found new UU groups on their campuses. Our goal is to create a network of campus groups, with Sanctuary Boston as the hub for communications, connections, and mutual support.

Core Responsibilities
● Coordinate student and younger adult (18-25 year old) connections as a program of Sanctuary, highly integrated with the rest of our community.
● Train and equip undergraduate student leaders and younger adults in the Boston Area to organize cross-campus ministry, run programs, and offer community care.
● Connect with the Religious Life staff at Boston area colleges for outreach and resource sharing.

● Connect with UU Religious Educators across the country about recent youth program graduates moving to Boston.

● Host 'student nights' at Sanctuary where undergraduate students all gather together before or after worship. Organize other special events and programs for students.

● Help Coordinate our Younger Adult small groups (18-25 year old).
● Create and distribute outreach communications, including (but not limited to) social media posts and advertisements, Facebook ads, social media outreach, and flyers posted on campuses.

● Support a cohort of student leaders who are starting new UU groups on their campuses.

Purpose of Campus Organizer
Every Unitarian Universalist youth should know that if they move to Boston, there will be a thriving community of UU students and Young Adults to welcome them. Every young UU that moves to Boston should be greeted by a chance to engage in relevant worship with contemporary music, small groups with peers, spiritual retreats, and other programs and opportunities for spiritual growth and real connection.
A dedicated Campus Ministry Organizer will allow us to find and connect with UUs at many of the 45 campuses in the Boston area. But that’s not enough. Lots of young people in college are looking for a spiritual home. Many identify as “spiritual, but not religious,” but they still want spirituality in community. Sanctuary Boston connects with these ‘seekers’ all the time and is well-suited for reaching out to the ‘religious nones’ on campuses across the city.

Experience with leadership development and community organizing.
Excellent communications skills.
Ability to manage, coordinate, and inspire volunteers.
Knowledge of and interest in Unitarian Universalism and the UU principles.

We Value
Work or lived experience with communities of color, indigenous peoples, or multicultural communities.
Work or lived experience with trans/queer/LGBTQIA communities.
Personal or professional experience providing emotional support to young people.
Experience in communications and social media outreach.
Experience with faith-based, social justice, and/or Unitarian Universalist messaging.
