The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a temporary Camp Conservatory Dean of Women/Instructor job opening for Camp Paradise Valley located in Burkesville, KY. Job Summary Trains and supervises an assigned group of conservatory counselors and instructors. Plans,coordinates and directs the functions of the counselors and instructors within the conservatory program. Ensures the quality of programs and safety of counselors and youth at all times during conservatory.Provides guidance and role modeling to counselors and ensures safety and a positive experience for counselors and campers.

Plans, coordinates, and leads classes in instruction. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the principles and practices of child and youth behavior and development. Knowledge of theprinciples and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of campers and other staff.Ability to lead an assigned group of counselors. Ability to plan, develop, facilitate, and supervise children andyouth programs and activities.

Ability to build and maintain effective mentor relationships with counselors and youth. Ability to communicate effectively with campers and camp staff. Ability to prepare a schedule ofactivities and anticipate scheduling conflicts. Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood andyouth programs and activities.

Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond toenvironmental and other hazards related to the activity. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Ability to meetattendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Education and Experience Six months experience teaching child development or youth programs in a church preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides therequired knowledge, skills, and abilities Licenses and Certifications CPR and First Aid Certification Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Some physical requirements of the Camp Head Counselor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required.

Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions. Additional Information Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 6 - 11, 2023 and participation is required.
