Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer to join the GEI CAD Team. This position requires using AutoCAD/Civil3D software and other tools to produce engineering and construction documents. Knowledge of Autodesk Revit, and MicroStation software packages are a plus. This position also requires working collaboratively with a talented team of design managers and technical leaders locally and partnering with technical staff in other offices in the organization. This position also allows the potential opportunity for a hybrid (office/remote) work schedule.

The successful candidate will possess the ability to prepare engineering design drawings for a variety of Geotechnical/Civil, and/or Environmental project types including structures, building foundations, civil site design, retaining walls, support of excavation design, plan and profiles, and road design layouts, and will have a working knowledge of building codes and construction practices. Civil site design aspects include, boring location plans, site demolition and new construction design preparation, site grading, and construction details. Knowledge of preparing Geotechnical/Environmental report drawing figures, including groundwater contour mapping is a plus.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Work on a variety of engineering projects under the direction of senior staff
  • Prepare engineering drawing sheets
  • Convert field information to final drawings
  • Preparation of proposals, reports, and construction documents
  • Direct and coordinate the assembly of final plan sets from multiple discipline work
  • Contribute to engineering analyses and designs using CADD software such as Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and other tools

Minimum Qualifications

  • A.S. Degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years drafting and design experience with AutoCAD, emphasis on structural and civil design disciplines preferred.
  • Fully proficient with AutoCAD/Civil 3D 2018 or higher; customization and programming experience is preferred, knowledge of Bentley MicroStation V8, and ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications, specifically Excel.
  • Candidates must have outstanding communication skills, possess high quality work ethic, and be able to work independently across multiple offices.
  • Travel and site visits are sometimes required.
