Job Description
The Procurement Buyer – Recycling & Waste Category, reporting to the Procurement Category Manager – MRO/Recycling & Waste, will champion Amcor’s sustainability goals as well as other assigned duties across more than thirty-five North America sites. This role supports ~$30 million in annual spend/revenue with recyclers and waste haulers. This position is responsible for the implementation of category sourcing strategies across North America, including day-to-day interaction with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of services at optimum cost. The Buyer collaborates and works closely with other functions in the organization to implement Total Cost of Ownership improvement opportunities within the category. This position negotiates pricing and terms with selected key suppliers; this position does not provide tactical planning or purchase order administrative support.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
  • Relationship Management (50%) - Develops strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Strategy Implementation (20%) – Supports implementation of overall multi-year procurement strategies and translates the strategies into concrete action plans at the site level.
  • Negotiation (30%) - Manages the negotiation process, content and results.

  • Flexibility to navigate seamlessly throughout the organization (with functions such as Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Research & Development) during the project lifecycle, fostering relationships with partners throughout the business to achieve project deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with multiple stakeholders having, at times, conflicting needs and priorities.
  • Proven process to develop supplier relationships in a way that encourages open dialogue and cooperating in identifying and implementing win-win situations that add value to both organizations.
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
  • Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Master’s Degree as an advantage.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in Recycling, Procurement, Operations or related field.
  • Travel 10% to 15% to meet with stakeholders at business locations.
  • Analytical depth and technical expertise in materials, processes, systems and equipment interface.
  • Expertise / mastery in desktop analytical tools (Excel, PowerPoint, databases, tableau or equivalent).
  • Experience in PowerBI or similar as an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma process improvement methodologies or similar.
  • SAP and/or other ERP systems experience as an advantage.
  • Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills, problem-solving ability and strategy planning expertise.
  • Strong action/results orientation with the ability to work with minimal oversight, to be self-motivated and proactive in achieving individual/team objectives.
