EMT (Rampart Triage)

PART-TIME Opportunity

Located at Burning Man in Black Rock City, NV

We're hiring Emergency Medical Technicians whose mission and purpose are to compassionately deliver high-quality service and patient care in a professional, discreet, and caring manner within Rampart at Burning Man. These EMTs, assigned to the Rampart treatment facility, will participate in the triage, treatment and discharge of patients presenting to the facility to receive emergency care. The emergency medical technician is an integral part of the triage team by providing initial triage upon arrival and supportive care alongside the nursing and physician team. The Rampart treatment facility, a Nevada Licensed Center for Emergency Care sees upwards of 2,500 patients presenting to an emergency room style treatment facility for routine and emergency care. Applicants interested in this position must be patient care focused providers looking to work in a high-volume clinical setting. All providers must work a minimum of four (4) shifts for Burning Man 2023.

Event Dates

Burning Man is always held the week prior to and including Labor Day weekend. Our clinic(s) will be operational from Tuesday, August 22nd through Tuesday, September 6 th , 2023. While you are not required to be present for the duration of the event, all providers must work a minimum of four (4) shifts for Burning Man 2023.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that event activities are aligned with CrowdRx goals and strategic plan.
• Delivering on-site BLS level care in accordance with all applicable medical guidelines and protocols.
• Calmly and professionally responding to calls for emergency medical assistance and public safety issues within assigned venue or event area.
• Coordinating and arranging emergent and non-emergent transport for patients to higher level of care.
• Communicating effectively with venue or event staff and other local officials to provide critical information.
• Utilizing medical equipment and procedures as required to provide appropriate and high-quality patient care.
• Properly generating and submittng all required response and patient care documentation.
• Properly maintaining all issued uniforms and response gear, and utilizing all personal protective equipment.
• Keeping current on all required state certifications / licenses.
• Monitoring and maintaining the condition of first aid offices and medical gear, ensuring that all supplies and equipment are in-date and in proper working order.
• Following all policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all established report times.
• Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.
• Communicating public health / safety issues to venue staff and internal management.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check.
• Drug screen.
• Nevada EMT certification.
• State Driver's License.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification.
• Applicable State certification(s).
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Physically fit.
• All providers must work a minimum of four (4) shifts for Burning Man 2023.

Experience:

• 3+ years experience as an EMS provider preferred.
• 911 Experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Effective customer service skills.
• A working understanding of special event operations and customer service.
• Demonstrated skill in the successful completion of multiple, simultaneous and rapidly emergent tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and procedures.
• Ability to write reports and document emergency response activities.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with venue partners and event.
• Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequently: Lifting 100 lbs., kneeling, stooping, bending, leaning, flexibility, multiple physical activities performed at the same time.

Constantly: Mental and situational awareness, hearing/listening, clear speech, simple touching, walking (inside and outside), pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, seeing.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

It's a huge lift to support a temporary city in one of the world's most inhospitable environments. This position will be physically demanding, and requires individuals with good physical health, and endurance. Much of the work will be in outside weather conditions and will be exposed to airborne particles as well as possible extremes in temperature.
