Job description

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for being physically involved with labor and repairs as requested on work orders, caretaking, and other multifamily property maintenance tasks. Work orders may be in resident apartments, elsewhere in the building itself, or on the exterior property grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Travel to properties in the Velair Property Management portfolio to complete work orders with the majority of time spent at their assigned home-base property.

· Complete housekeeping duties as needed.

· Assist other Velair staff with care and services of building systems and equipment.

· Maintain Property and grounds to Velair standards by performing daily cleaning, trash collection and preventative maintenance.

· Read operation and maintenance manuals (O&M) for facility equipment and be familiar with manufacturer recommendations for equipment O&M.

· Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned.

· Ability to know and adhere to Fair Housing Laws.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

· High School diploma or GED. Additional education is desirable.

· Ability to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.

· This position will require travel to other Velair properties as needed

· Ability to work from ladders, platforms, and areas that are hard to reach.

· Ability to lift, move and set up tools, equipment, and furniture weighing in excess of 50 pounds.

· Working knowledge of hand tools, portable power tools and trade tools

· Majority of the work takes place indoors, but at times may require outside work.

· Valid drivers’ license, ability to drive and insurance required.
