Brand Communications Senior Specialist

We are currently looking for a Brand Communications Senior Specialist to be responsible for developing and managing the brand’s internal and external communication strategy to ensure messages are unified, consistent, and reflective of the company’s core values and mission. In this role, the individual will have the opportunity to create comprehensive plans that ensure every communication outlet, including email, training, intranet (to come), social media, PR, and video, is utilized in an effort to provide updates and to educate the franchise system, the public, and Home Office on various brand specific projects. Additionally, this role will support the events team with annual meetings and events.


What you'll do:

  • Develop strategic communication plans, independently, for all brand projects and ongoing initiatives to help employees across the organization stay up to date on vision, goals, projects, and executive updates by leading strategic internal and executive communications programs
  • Oversee content management and franchise support for the company’s extranet site; includes managing all updates/changes in collaboration with IT and other departments as needed
  • Write, edit, and post extranet content several times each week; includes outreach to franchise system and outside sources for testimonials
  • Engage in cross-team collaboration on strategic communication initiatives including working with Marketing, Sales, Operations, etc.
  • Create and execute executive communication strategy ensuring each executive team member is being strategically positioned, externally, based on role and strengths
  • Use decision making authority, as a part of the marketing leadership team, to lead and navigate projects and situations
  • Make independent decisions related to strategically utilizing specific communication channels for content delivery to reach various audiences
  • Create internal messages for Home Office including emails, voice overs, video scripts
  • Oversee the workflow, news development and media pitches of the external public relations agency to ensure effective collaboration and consistent, quality work.
  • Draft additional internal-facing messages as required
  • Develop new communication tactics to improve franchise survey scores in Marketing and Promotions and Communications
  • Build strong momentum for internal comms to help keep our team, employees, and owners aware of upcoming campaigns & focus areas (e.g., promoting Choose Your Champion and We Serve: Fire Prevention Campaigns)
  • Research media trends, trade associations and other needed avenues for PR
  • Collaborate with sales support to highlight our depth of experts for media coverage and panel appearances
  • Work with media at tradeshows/events to gain attention for the brand
  • Assist in crisis communications as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Brand Marketing Manager


What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or other relevant specialty is required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, journalism, or related field is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Proven use of active learning, active listening, and critical thinking skills to identify solutions, problem-solve, and make decisions
  • Proven judgment and decision-making skills, considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and the ability to choose the most appropriate one
  • Expert time management
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Flexible writing style
  • Extranet/intranet content management
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Excellent knowledge of the AP Style Guide
  • Some knowledge of design software including Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected, fluency of ideas – ability to come up with several ideas about a topic
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Contract Negotiations – analyze, develop, and implement contracts utilizing various skills in building rapport, strategic thinking, compromise, and assertiveness, while developing positive professional relationships with vendors
  • Ability to create, implement, and apply a budget
  • Strong knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint 2010
  • Event planning experience preferred, but not required

This is a hybrid position based in our corporate office.
