Branch Warehouse Supervisor

As a member of the Company Stores team, the Branch Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for directing the activities of the branch warehouse associates in receiving, inbound PO reconciliation, inventory control, cycle counting, picking, packing, shipping, customer deliveries, fleet management and other warehouse operations to ensure that customers receive the Right Product, at the Right Time, and in the Right Condition, in a clean, safe, and productive environment.


Position responsibilities:

  • Builds a cohesive and productive team through collaboration, inclusion and teamwork that fosters the desired culture that Johnstone Supply promotes.
  • Ensures customers receive the Right Product at the Right Time and in the Right Condition by monitoring the daily order-filling workload and directing labor needs; checking shipping documents for accuracy; answering questions related to the Shipping department; coordinating emergency or unusual shipments with truck lines; and ensuring Distribution standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Ensures a safe work environment by observing and coaching employees; removing potential safety hazards; maintaining a clean work area through a clean as you work process; and participating as a permanent member of the Safety Committee.
  • Maintains department staff by conducting interviews in the hiring process and making recommendations; overseeing the training of new employees and cross training of existing employees; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as necessary; and conducting mid-year progress performance reviews as well as annual performance reviews.
  • Ensures that Branch Warehouse associates have the appropriate training support to be successful in their individual roles and provides on-going coaching and professional development.
  • Communicate daily warehouse staffing with branch leadership and makes recommendations for handling volume of work.
  • Maintain branch security through lock up procedure and securing building at days end.
  • Maintains equipment servicing including daily equipment checks, battery watering procedures are followed and ensures that all necessary equipment repairs are made timely.
  • Ensures that all lift equipment drivers are tested and certified on the machinery prior to issuing use approval.
  • Checking shipping documents for accuracy; answering questions related to the outbound department; coordinating emergency or unusual shipments with delivery services.
  • Works closely with the facility and/or department trainer – reviewing discrepancies, identifying training needs of staff, and issuing timely follow up with associates.

  • Supervise inventory control personnel to ensure compliance to cycle counts and inventory procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory counts by performing daily cycle counts of locations and parts; monitoring put-away activities; monitoring and maintaining data consistency between databases; and research inventory discrepancies found during picking.
  • Supervise and/or perform system adjustments based on cycle counts, short picks, or inventory audits.
  • Assist in resolving receiving exceptions and discrepancies by working with receiving processors and Supervisors to research inbound receipt problems; serving as liaison between the DC and Corporate Office in determining how to handle discrepancies; and monitoring problem receipts to ensure Return Authorizations are received in a timely manner.
  • Assist in ensuring established receiving best practices are utilized by rotating between jobs and working with co-workers to determine processes being used; providing coaching or training when inventory errors exist; and leading meetings to improve processes or communicate issues in the area of Inventory Control.
  • Will occasionally provide backup leadership support to the branch manager and counter staff.
  • Occasional and seasonal weekend work hours based on business needs.


Position requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.); at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred.
