Introduction

Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Branch Manager (Senior Library Manager) to provide leadership and direction to teams of public service professionals at Montclair Library. The Branch Manager position is ideal for a leader with strong management skills who is ready to impact the fifth year of our current strategic plan and move PWPL into the next five-year plan. The Branch Manager must have a passion for creating an environment of teamwork that embraces change and excellent customer service. They must possess effective management skills and experience and be knowledgeable about the administrative and programmatic operations of public libraries. The Branch Manager will have the ability to impact the future of library services and affect cultural and organizational change, and is the perfect opportunity for a creative, innovative team player who wants to share their passion for customer service with the Prince William County community.

ABOUT THIS ROLE


  • Supervises management staff, including creating and writing annual evaluations, facilitating the staff discipline process and managing employees to improve/maximize performance.
  • Provides branch budget oversite, including managing the aspects of the Friends of the Library and sub fund budgets; completing all applicable financial paperwork.
  • Managing the facility; submitting work requests as required.
  • Engages in communication with our stakeholders and provide excellent internal and external customer service.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree in library or information science and 3 years of related experience.

PREFERENCES
The successful candidate will possess the ability to oversee the daily operations of all facets of public services in the branch, which includes programming and technology assistance and access. Preferred experience includes a minimum of:
  • 2-3 years demonstrated successful management of a similarly sized library branch or department and in managing Supervisors
  • 2-3 years managing para-professional and professional staff
  • 2-3 years serving on system wide workgroups, focus groups and leadership teams
  • 2-3 years of experience with ILS, meeting room/event software, reading program software
  • 1-2 years implementing strategic plan objectives
  • 1-2 years overseeing budget, payroll, managing grant, non-profit funding
  • 2 years customer service experience
  • 2 years of facility management
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week exempt positions. Montclair is currently open 6 days a week. The schedule includes days, evenings, and weekends. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the library.

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $79,009 - $96,452
