JOB DESCRIPTION: Functioning under the clinical guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer, the role of the Blended Assistant (CMA/Scribe) is to accompany provider into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the provider’s encounter with the patient and others present in the electronic health record. He/she will be responsible to list all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the provider and document any procedures performed by the physician. When not functioning as a Scribe, the medical assistant participates in the assessment and care of clinic patients. This involves a variety of tasks requiring judgment born of a solid knowledge and expertise in general nursing theory. May perform limited exams, take vital signs or perform laboratory tests within regulatory limitations.

EDUCATION: High school graduation and completion of a formal program which results in the designation of medical assistant. Must be Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant. Current CPR certification required.

SKILLS: One to three years’ experience as a CMA/RMA in a family practice or community health care setting strongly preferred. Excellent computer, typing, and communication skills required.

HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
