Summary: Fall River Health Services (FRHS) is a comprehensive healthcare system, which services Fall River County and the surrounding areas in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota . Description: Under moderate supervision the Biomedical Technician will: repair, calibrate & maintain clinical equipment instrumentation systems of increased complexity used in healthcare delivery. Inspect, install and perform inventory assessments and preventative maintenance of clinical equipment. Provide support both on-site and remotely to FRHS.

  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect clinical equipment and instrumentation including life-support equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems
  • Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures
  • Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operations and maintenance
  • Review outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements
  • May assist in or conduct in-service educational programs on use of equipment
  • Research and initiate orders for repair, parts, working with supervisor; demonstrate ability to second source parts
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as required
  • Make recommendations regarding service strategies on equipment; keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems
  • Maintain orderly and functional work environment ensuring tools and test equipment are in good working order and calibrated on time
  • Provide 24 hour on-call services in accordance with department policies
  • Respond expeditiously to calls from clinical department to evaluate and rectify valid operator complaints and concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are intrinsic to the successful operation of FRHS
  • Technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair and maintenance.
  • Application and repair of computer and servers and how they interface with clinical equipment
  • Electronic theory, technology and test equipment
  • Current regulatory requirements
  • Basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills i.e. email, word processing, spreadsheets and basic reports
  • Troubleshoot computer issues, i.e. printer, display and other peripherals
  • Analyze, repair and test electronic and electromechanical equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections
  • Run diagnostic programs
  • Comprehend multiple sets of instructions and effectively communicate
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations and tests
  • Demonstrate proper use of tools and machinery required to complete repairs
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instrumentation

Requirements: Associates degree in biomedical equipment technology. An equivalent combination of education, experience can be substituted. Certification(s) preferred in CBET, A+, etc.

Minimum 2 years servicing a broad representation of clinical/patient care equipment in a health care / hospital setting.
