The role:

As a BIM Manager specializing in infrastructure, you’ll have the opportunity to apply your process outlook and engineering skills on the multi-billion dollar 6-year BART Silicon Valley Phase II project. Your role will include owning the success of the project from a BIM standpoint, both for VIATechnik and for our client. The ideal candidate is someone who can thrive on large scale & complex projects, has a passion for developing and implementing innovative BIM workflows across teams, and is a master at managing diverse groups of stakeholders.


In this role, you will:

  • Take ownership of the contractor’s BIM models and produce high quality BIM and CAD submittals.
  • Confirm the BIM execution plan is compliant, up-to-date, agreed to by the owner agency, and implemented.
  • Ensure disciplines are sharing information through a controlled, ISO 19650-compliant process and using each other's information effectively in a BIM environment.
  • Proactively seek efficiencies and benefits to improve project productivity. Enhance VIATechnik's goal of continuous improvement within our company, for our clients, and for the industry.
  • Lead BIM workflows including design and construction phase BIM coordination, model-based design and construction document creation, scan to BIM, and 4D BIM.
  • Create detailed schedules and project plans, and effectively manage them to successful project completion. Proactively identify gaps in planning and communicate them to clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage global project teams and third-party vendors and partners to keep projects on budget and on time. Includes presenting scope and instructions to the team, ensuring all questions are answered, team output is received on time, and that the team is producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Be responsible for on-time completion, overall budget, quality, and client satisfaction on projects.
  • Solve project-related problems and independently make decisions to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Serve as an interface to the client and cultivate client relationships. Present work to the client. Conduct and/or actively participate in meetings with the client.
  • Communicate with clients, team members, and other stakeholders to understand their complex needs and use that information to create complex project roadmaps.
  • Learn and present new BIM technology applications to our team and clients. Be willing to expand your knowledge to new areas to elevate how VIATechnik delivers results.
  • Contribute to the VIATechnik culture of professional development and knowledge sharing by participating in and leading training efforts.
  • Regularly collaborate in-person with key project stakeholders, in the office and/or at the jobsite.

Apply if you have:

  • A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience on similar projects, including design-build infrastructure projects, with expert knowledge and proficiency in BIM/CAD tools and processes.
  • Background in the construction industry, especially with a focus on field construction or infrastructure.
  • Experience in combining and coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection on revised components, and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of primary building systems – foundations, primary building structure and walls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, fire protection, specialty systems, conveying systems and interior finishes and the sequence of assembly of each.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction contracts.
  • Proactive and flexible attitude, and willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach.

Even better if you have:

  • Certification in or familiarity with ISO 19650.
  • Experience with Civil 3D software.
  • Managed BIM on rail, tunnel, or aviation construction projects.
  • Ability to train and guide team members in the use of Revit, Navisworks, BIM360, AutoCAD, Revizto, BIM Track, and other supporting programs.
  • Track record of effectively working with and/or managing teams remotely.

The pay for this position is from $100,000 to $130,000, and the role is eligible for bonuses. The actual salary offer may be different as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location.
