Responsibilities

  • Provides services designed to meet the emotional and developmental needs of children age 0-8 and their families.
  • Works as part of a cross-disciplinary team to assess, support, and follow children and families who are identified as showing early signs of social and emotional difficulties or are experiencing risk factors known to lead to poor social and emotional development outcomes.
  • Build the capacity of providers, partner programs, and systems to foster children's social, emotional, and behavioral health and development.
  • Coordinate with partner agencies in areas of mental health and family crisis management.
  • Conduct observation of children and classrooms/child care settings, provide coaching, modeling and classroom management support.
  • Works with families to make adjustments to support positive behavior change for the individual.
  • Ensure appropriate communication with partners and works to ensure good relationships with partners.
  • Communicate issues proactively to management team and works to create solutions to problems. Provide parenting support, family strengthening services and consultation to caregivers and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, early childhood or related field Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience providing related services to families and individuals.
  • Clinical background with ability to understand behavior from an environmental and contextual perspective preferred.
  • Ability to engage in meaningful, therapeutic relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and community partners.
  • Valid NYS driver's license, have regular access to a car and be willing to travel to off-site locations as needed.
  • Experience working proactively and progressively with community groups, consumers and colleagues.
  • Commitment to an integrated approach that involves strategies such as embedding a mental health consultant into pediatric practices, developing shared treatment plans across physicians and mental health consultants, and implementing shared data systems that integrate behavioral and medical electronic health records.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty. Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations, to provide high-level services and lasting solutions to fit each individuals and family's needs.
  • Background check is required through the NYS Central Registry of Child Abuse.
  • Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show proof of vaccination [or receive a first vaccination by their first day]. Exemptions may be available on the basis of disability, medical contraindications to the vaccine, pregnancy or pregnancy related medical conditions and for religious reasons. Any requests for an exemption will be reviewed by the SCAP Human Resources Director and determined on a case by case basis
