Weekend Part-time Direct Support Professional - flexible schedule

Work Schedule: This position is to fill up to 16 hours on the weekend. This role is a good match for those with significant flexibility in their lifestyle. Each week, your supervisor(s) will let you know which portion(s) of the weekend, if any, you will be asked to cover. As long as you are ready, willing & able to work, you will be paid for 16 hours each week, even if you are actually asked to work less than 16 hours on a given weekend. We expect that in most circumstances we will be able to provide several days’ notice as to which hours you will be working each upcoming weekend. However, in some cases, less notice may be required. Compensation: $35.00 per hour.

Job Description: Help support a sweet & endearing 17 year-old with developmental disabilities, serious mental illness, medical/ADL needs, & behavior challenges. Support takes place in his home & in the community. You will be working as part of highly skilled 3-person team of professional staff dedicated to improving his quality of life.

The position is overseen by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) working under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) & several program managers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid California driver’s license & clean driving record.
  • Passage of a criminal background check.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, dementia, or similar challenges is preferred but not required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to assist the individual with activities of daily living including bathing, toileting, and other self-help skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to support individuals with challenging behavior (including aggression, property destruction & disrobing).
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, read and interpret documents, write specific reports, and help problem-solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to master and implement all techniques used to safely manage behavioral challenges, including passing a company-provided Crisis Prevention Training course developed by QBS Safety-Care®, shortly after date of hire.
