Job Description: The Peer Recovery Coach works with clients directly within the population. The Peer Recovery Coach will be present in common areas when group/class is not in progress and will provide a key role in therapy team that measures the milieu of the attending clients. Peer Recovery Coaches will provide emotional, informational, and instrumental support. Counselors supervise Peer Recovery Coaches closely and work in tandem to present therapeutic interventions to clients appropriately.

Job Responsibilities: It is extremely important to be present at all times with the clients and to be involved in swaying regular conversation between clients to recovery focused discussion. Peer Recovery Coaches assist in: Gauging the Therapeutic Milieu, Group Processing, Individual Sessions, Collateral Contact, and Detailed Notation.

What Peer Recovery Coaches are not: Sponsors, Friends, or Significant Others. Crossing any of these boundaries are considered counterproductive to the therapeutic process and may result in disciplinary action.

The Clinical Director will assist in the selection of relevant training for the Peer Recovery Coach.

Continuing education will always be encouraged by Union Mission BHC. Any adjustments needed to support an employee to further their education will be considered and supported based on availability and capability of the facility to handle adjustments.

Union Mission BHC Peer Recovery Coaches will work in cooperation with the licensed clinical staff to support the client’s recovery process. Union Mission BHC Peer Recovery Coaches are not substitutes for licensed counselors and will only assist with tasks that are appropriate for their level of training with supervision from clinical staff.

Essential Job Responsibilities

· Monitors/charts client behavior.

· Work closely with RA at Union Mission.

· Provides transportation to clients when necessary.

· A valid Driver's license and good driving record is required.

· A West Virginia Criminal Record Check required.

· Personal experience in the field of recovery preferred.

· Must have certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist.

· Regular and continued training working with the field of mental health and substance use disorders.

· Ability to perform on site drug testing, when required.

· Adherence to current NAADAC code of ethics.

· CPR and first aid certification required.

· Administers drug screening when required.

· Other duties as assigned.

Applicant must be able to pass an initial drug screen and is required to submit to random drug screens during employment.
