Come join Invo Healthcare as a Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) joining our district partner's mental health and behavioral health team.

Job Summary:

Behavior Support Specialists (BSSs) provides support to clients with behavioral and emotional needs in school and community settings. When in a school setting, Behavior Support Specialists work closely with school/district personnel, including teachers, school support staff, and school administrators, as well as client’s caregivers. As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will provide guidance and support to students to promote learning and engage in behavior that is more appropriate to the school setting.

Schedule: Full-time

Responsibilities:

  • Implement proactive behavioral support under the guidance of qualified mental health and/or behavioral health providers.

  • Respond to challenging behavior using de-escalation techniques, under the guidance of other qualified mental health and/or behavioral health providers.

  • Observe and support students in various school settings (e.g., classroom, lunchroom, recess, transitions, etc.)

  • Assist in teaching skills to increase client’s success across settings.

  • Work with students, families, and school staff to encourage resolution of conflicts.

  • Participate in collaborative meetings and communicate with other professionals, as well as school staff and caregivers regarding individual student needs and progress.

  • Maintain client records and files; document interactions and report on interactions and outcomes as needed.

  • Maintain assigned cases, and coordinates with school administrators on individual student needs and outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years old

  • Obtain background clearance meeting school district criteria

  • Minimum High School diploma

  • At least 1 year previous experience with students who present with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges in a classroom or school is preferred.

  • At least 1 year working with an adult population with developmental disabilities is an acceptable alternative.
  • Previous experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preferred but not required
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel).

  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.

  • Ability to build relationships with school personnel, youth, and families.

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of calm in stressful situations.
