Job description
The position requires Behavior Specialist work along side the staff in the Group Home and Day Program providing training and support for behavioral challenges of the individuals and work under the supervision of the Director of Clinical and Behavior Operations.
Ideal candidate should have experience developing behavior support programs with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Implement ABA interventions specified in the Behavior Support Plan or at the instruction of the Director of Clinical and Behavior Ops and BCBA.
Training staff on the Behavior Support Plan or interventions at the instruction of the Director of Clinical and Behavior Ops.
Support the clients regarding behavioral, self-care, and habilitative related tasks performed
Assist in clinical assessments, as needed.
Assist in creating supportive environments and activities to support the clients’ behaviors
Teach skills that allow the client to communicate and/or function more effectively..
Assisting in service supports that may include behavioral supports and training, adaptive skill development, assistance with activities of daily living and community inclusion.
Train staff to properly implement ABA interventions and the skills to increase the clients’ independence.
Train the staff on Safety Care crisis management techniques (once becoming a certified trainer).
Assist the program managers in structuring activities and outings for the respective homes.
Data collection and displays as authorized by the Director of Clinical and Behavior Ops.
Communicate openly with other administrators.
Communicate with families/guardians of the clients’ regarding behaviors.
Completing progress notes at the request of the Director of Clinical and Behavior Ops.
Maintain a flexible schedule to assist with behaviors as they occur.
On-Call responsibilities for a designated program, at all times.
Other duties as assigned by the the Director of Clinical and Behavior Ops.
Cooperate with the Agency and Department staff in any inspection or investigation.
