The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $38 billion per year.

The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking to fill one Aviation Environmental Project Manager position within the Planning and Environmental Division.

The essential duties of this position include:

  • Overseeing the preparation of environmental studies, including working with consultants, staff, and public stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and analyzing proposed development projects for compliance with environmental regulations and goals.
  • Implementing environmental compliance programs.
  • Implementing corrective actions.
  • Planning scopes of work, managing contractors, contracts, and project budgets.
  • Implementing environmental policies and procedures.
  • Working on a variety of special studies related to environmental initiatives, sustainability, governance, and resilience.
  • Supervising staff, as requested.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in an environmental services senior staff role.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with all airport stakeholders.
  • Desire to expand skill set, learn and grow professional abilities.
  • Experience interpreting environmental standards and making recommendations.
  • Strong communication and management skills.

SALARY


$61,110.40 - $92,892.80 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $92,892.80 depending upon qualifications.

BENEFITS

Additionally, effective 10/1/2022, Paid Parental Leave is now offered to eligible employees up to 480 hours (12 weeks) of paid leave for the birth, adoption or foster care placement of a child during a 12-month period.

Pension Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of responsible experience in urban development, redevelopment, business assistance, capital improvement, design and/or construction projects at a level which required supervision or participation in the planning and programming processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, urban planning, architecture, engineering, construction management, economics, or a related field such as environmental science.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

  • Four years of responsible experience in environmental programs at airport, transportation, or government entities.
  • Experience in remediation, due diligence, hazardous building materials, hazardous waste, construction management, or environmental rules, processes, and methods.
  • Professional Engineer or Registered Geologist or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager.
  • Experience with environmental management software.
