Job Summary and Qualifications

The Perfusion-Autotransfusion Assistant, under the direct supervision of a certified perfusionist or a board eligible perfusionist, assists in procedures to provide patients the capability of collecting their own blood during the intraoperative and postoperative phase of specified surgical procedures to reduce or eliminate the need for or exposure to homologous blood products.

What you will do in this role:

• Provides patient care in the support, treatment, measurement or supplementation of the circulatory system during surgical procedures
• Major functions of positions center around cardiopulmonary bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping, autologous blood salvage, electronic physiological monitoring procedures

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate, experience required in lieu of education
• Minimum one-year allied health hospital experience in perfusion or surgery required
• Blood Management Technologist (CPBMT)
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Knowledge of universal and blood borne pathogen safety precautions
• Must be able to document clinical procedures, read handwritten test, understand and apply policies and procedures
  
• Experience conducting maintenance and regular cleaning of the Heater/Coolers, Heart Lung Machines, and Cell Savers highly preferred
• Phlebotomy experience highly preferred
• This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved)
