This is where YOU fit in: Navy Exchange Whidbey is in need of an Auto Mechanic to answer the call; a team player who is dedicated to supporting our local Naval community, and operational successes on a day to day basis. You will provide auto repair services to our Military patrons and their families. Your work will make an impact and support how our organization serves the best customer – our Military patrons and their families.

So, what does a typical day look like? What does it take to succeed?

o Examine vehicles to determine extent of maintenance and repairs required.

o Make repairs, reinstalling or replacing defective parts or components of vehicle systems.

o Perform checklists as prescribed to ensure all components are examined, including belts, hoses, steering linkage, tires, brakes, fuel system, lights, wipers, glass, etc.

o Study and plan maintenance and repairs to OEM specification using professional management information systems (MIS), technical manuals, diagrams and experience.

o Consult with Service Advisor(s) recommending comprehensive repairs and maintenance of customer vehicles.

o Receive assignments from a supervisor, orally or in the form of repair orders. Select tools and determine methods of use, receiving advice and guidance on connection with unusual problems which may arise. Completed work is reviewed for acceptability and conformance with requirements.

The Qualifiers:

o Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties.

o Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring or uncomfortable positions.

o Frequently lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

o Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.

o Must possess a valid state driver’s license and pass a pre-employment criminal & motor vehicle background check.

o HazMat training required within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.47 - $34.22 per hour
