JOB SUMMARY:
Assist and provide legal advice, opinions, and representation for the County. This will include, but not be limited to, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements and other legal documents and representing the County. Will also perform other related duties as required.

For Collector:

• Assist and provide legal advice and opinions to the Collector of Revenue.
• Conducts complex legal research for legal opinions, legal actions, and related areas on behalf of the Collector of Revenue.
• Prepares a variety of legal documents for the Collector, including but not limited to, Council Bills, motions, contracts, deeds, pleadings, memoranda, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Prepares for and attends court; takes court cases to trial, including discovery, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, and exercises discretion as to how evidence and arguments are presented.
• Files pre-trial and post-trial court motions and litigates appeals.
• Reviews state and federal legislation for impact on Collector functions.
• Drafts bills and revises Collector ordinances and resolutions.
• Maintains knowledge of current local, state and federal laws regarding Collector functions, state and federal court procedures, and County rules and regulations.
• Files court documents electronically in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
• Performs general office duties, including copying, scanning, printing, and filing.
• May direct the work of one or more staff within the Collector's Department.
• Performs work at assigned location during specified business hours.
• Performs related additional duties as required and assigned.
