TITLE: Athletic Trainer (41K+)
LOCATION: New Concord, OH

Summary:
The Athletic Trainer is under the supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Services.Athletic Training means the practice of prevention, recognition, assessment, management, treatment, disposition, and reconditioning of acute athletic injuries upon the referral of a licensed professional.

Responsibilities:
-The Athletic Trainer shall restrict their practice to the athletes at the school to which they have been assigned.
This coverage may include opposing team athletes in a competition setting when needs arise and in the absence of adequate opposing team coverage.
This coverage may also include the limited emergency care of coaching staff members or fans.
-Practices athletic training in accordance with the laws and rules of the State of Ohio.
-Provide for field coverage, including game coverage of weekend contests for local college and high school as provided by contractual agreement.
These duties are performed consistent with the Facilities Athletic Training Outreach Manual.
-Athletic Trainer will be proficient in the use of braces, taping and strapping techniques for prevention and rehabilitation of various injuries.
-Measure, order and fit student athletes with various types of supports and/or braces and provides instructions for home care activities.
-Discuss injury care programs with the student athlete and/or family as well as distribute written instructions. Also instruct other health care team personnel and coaches who may be involved with this athlete while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
-Coordinates all aspects of the Preparticipation Physical Evaluations for the schools and school districts to which they are assigned.
-Organizes and conducts appropriate first aid training programs for the schools and school districts’ coaches designed to meet the Ohio requirements to direct, supervise, or coach a pupil activity, as set forth in Ohio Adm. Code 3301-27-01.
-Is proficient in the use of all modality equipment in the schools’ athletic training facilities
-Supervises student aides.
-Is proficient in the use of all modality equipment in the physical therapy department as listed on the Competency Checklist
-Performs selected treatment procedures delegated to him by the physical therapists that are commensurate with his education and training, including rehabilitation for industrial workers on an OP basis.
-Perform work tasks related to routine operation of the Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Services.
-Assist in the education and clinical experience of student athletic trainers on a prn basis.
-May perform other duties related to fitness/wellness services as qualified and assigned.

Qualifications:
Athletic Trainer Certification (A.T.C.) and Licensure by the State of Ohio Occupational, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board .Graduate of accredited program for Athletic Trainers, Bachelors of Athletic Training or equivalent degree required. Ability to work variable hours. Current CPR certificate required.

Additional Info:
Person would be working in one of the local city schools. Person reports to the Director Physical Therapy. Great department to work in. The hospital offers an hourly rate $41,000 - $60,000 depending on experience and they offer a full benefit package.
