The University of Utah College of Pharmacy, in collaboration with University of Utah Health Pharmacy Services is seeking applications for a career track (Clinical) faculty member who will practice at the University of Utah Health Outpatient Cardiology Clinic. This fulltime clinical track position will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor and will be available in Summer 2023.

Skaggs Research Institute and is part of University of Utah Health, an umbrella health sciences center encompassing a wide scope of clinical and research enterprises. The College of Pharmacy is a top-15 pharmacy school nationally and ranked among the top five in terms of National Institutes of Health research productivity. The Department has a unique mix of clinical, research and tenured faculty to support the training of professional (PharmD) and graduate (PhD) students. Career-line (Clinical) faculty have the opportunity to collaborate in clinical practice, through affiliation with University of Utah Health, in teaching with other faculty members across professions and disciplines, and in research with collaborators at Population Health Sciences, the Veterans Administration IDEAS Center, the Program in Personalized Health Care, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Department of Economics and various other academic Departments in the School of Medicine, as well as within the Department through the Pharmacotherapy Outcomes Research Center. U Health also has an NIH funded Center of Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS).
Responsibilities of the position:
Teaching (40%): The faculty member will be expected to teach in the didactic curriculum of the College of Pharmacy with a focus on leading the cardiology module as part of the Integrated Therapeutics course series and serve as a clerkship preceptor for pharmacy students. Additional teaching opportunities including lectures, small group facilitation and creation of elective courses are available and encouraged based on the interest of the faculty member and the needs of the department. The faculty member may also be involved in precepting residents and fellows in collaboration with other U of U Health clinical pharmacists.
Clinical Practice (50%): The faculty member’s practice site will be in the area of outpatient cardiology at the U of U Health Cardiology Clinic. The faculty member will be responsible to a U of U Health Pharmacy Services manager for practice responsibilities and will work together with a full-time clinical pharmacist at the practice site. Practice site activities will include a combination of practice development, professional consultation with medical team members and direct patient care. The faculty role within this team will be critical to the continued development of measurable patient interventions and overall clinical outcomes.
Scholarship (5%): Faculty are expected to participate in producing scholarly works, which may include clinical research, outcomes research, review articles, book chapters, and case reports. Presentations at local, regional, and national meetings will also be expected. The cardiology practice site is also a rich resource for potential scholarly projects involving interprofessional collaboration.
Service(5%): Participation on college, department, and university committees is expected. In addition, faculty members serve as mentors for students, as advisors to student organizations, and are expected to be active in local and national professional service.
Preferences:
Applicants should hold a PharmD degree and have completed a PGY1 residency. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a PGY2 residency in areas such as ambulatory care, internal medicine, critical care or cardiology or equivalent experience. Applicants who have completed a clinical pharmacy research fellowship may also apply. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in clinical practice, have a strong desire for teaching in diverse environments and scholarship in an academic medical center. This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and required immunizations. Pharmacist licensure or eligibility for licensure in Utah is required.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
