Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Director, the Associate Director, Volunteer Engagement plays a crucial role in the management and execution of a comprehensive program of volunteer engagement and communications for a wide range of volunteer groups, including high level advisory councils, the Road Home Host Committee, the Rush Associates Board, the Woman's Board, the Woman's Board's auxiliary group and its junior board. A special focus for this position is to help build advisory councils which will successfully engage trustees and other high-level volunteers, raise brand awareness, and encourage philanthropic support of RUSH. The associate director collaborates closely with colleagues in Alumni Relations, Annual Giving, Major and Principal Gifts, Campaign Management and Special Events. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:
In partnership with the Senior Director, support the development and execution of advisory council meetings, with an emphasis on developing high-quality volunteer engagement opportunities for RUSH trustees and other key donors.
Proactively manage a diverse portfolio of volunteer groups, including supporting the recruitment and retention of group members, and developing content for volunteer board and council meetings.
Plan and implement events and activities to increase funds raised and promote engagement of volunteer group members, while building connections with RUSH people and programs according to the volunteers' needs and interests.
In close collaboration with Philanthropy leadership, serve as Philanthropy's key staff liaison for assigned volunteer groups; Collaborate with Volunteer Engagement colleagues to provide cross-functional support to all Philanthropy-managed volunteer groups.
Collaborate with the Philanthropy Communications team to recommend print and electronic communications to convey the impact of volunteers' involvement and maintain updates in the department's database.
Establish processes and monitor and report on progress on all assigned volunteer group activities, programs and fundraising efforts, keeping RUSH leadership appraised of progress on a regular basis.

Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
A minimum of three years of experience in philanthropy, board management, events management or- volunteer program management is required; five or more years of experience is preferred.
Ability to collaborate and communicate across multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives is required.
Proven ability to create and execute an annual plan based on defined strategies.
Excellent organizational and strategic planning skills, the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment, and the ability to see through each phase of an initiative or event from planning to follow-up.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve in a team-based environment and to lead volunteers and colleagues toward the achievement of goals.
Capacity to work independently, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness.
Ability to represent RUSH and articulate its mission to a variety of constituencies, including members of the Board of Trustees, with poise and diplomacy.
Must be available some evenings and weekends to support volunteer engagement events and activities.
The RUSH Office of Philanthropy offers a flexible hybrid work schedule. All team members must work in the office at least one day per week and may be required to work in the office additional days per week pending the needs of the team.
