Description:
Student Involvement, Leadership, and Transitions (SILT) is a hub for campus involvement, events, and programs. SILT programs and events are aimed at promoting engagement, learning, intercultural competency, enhancing students’ leadership capacity, and building community. From joining student organizations, to running for student office, to orientation initiatives, to attending large-scale social events, our office offers a myriad of ways of connecting with the Emory community. SILT is comprised of two areas: Involvement and Leadership and Transitions.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • The role of the Associate Director of Student Engagement and Programming is to vision, plan, program, and manage student undergraduate and graduate/professional student engagement through immersive and engaging programming.
  • Responsible for developing programs that encourage community development and engagement through planning and executing campus-wide and population-specific programming.
  • This includes collaboration with student organizations and offices/departments.
  • Additionally, provides programming practices to cultivate a robust campus community.
  • This position includes supervision, event planning, vendor management, database management, goal setting, assessment, budget management, program and content development, interdepartmental collaboration, and representing the unit across the institution.
  • Essential Functions:
    • Develops, implements, and assesses educational, leadership, multicultural, and social programs, including, but not limited to: Pre-Orientation/Orientation evening community development programming, Welcome Weeks cross department collaboration and programming, Student Involvement Fair, Be Well Fair, Take a Break/De-stress Calendar Coordination.
    • Visions and creates a spirit and traditions initiative/programs for the Emory campus community.
    • Supervises professional level staff.
    • Provides ongoing support for student organizations for both undergraduate and graduate/professional student organizations through programmatic collaboration.
    • Supports online organization management and support, organization registration, contract review, and officer compliance training.
    • Collaborates with Student Center for Operations and Events on the promotion of building spaces through intentional programming.
    • Provides support for evening and weekend programming through Dooley After Dark and the Student Programming Council.
    • Co-advises College Council with programming efforts including Culture Shock, Student Art Fair, and other student organization promotion experiences.
    • Implements robust assessment plan and generate engagement reports.
    • Serves as a representative on several university committees as assigned.
    • Serves as a member of the SILT (director/senior leadership) team supporting direction of the department with the director.
    • Oversees ongoing assessment processes and annual project-based reports.
    • Supports daily management of Student Involvement, Leadership, and Transitions.
  • Other Functions:
    • Serves as a content expert regarding small and large programs and event planning on campus.
    • Provides specific guidance on issues related to University policies and procedures, contract negotiation, and management and risk assessment.
    • Provides vision and leadership on a robust and intentional programming calendar to promote collaboration while capacity building.
    • Represents the department and division on a variety of committees and task forces; supports and collaborates with faculty and other divisions and university departments.
    • Responds to student, parent, and faculty concerns; attends regular department and division staff meetings.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
  • The work schedule includes some nights and weekends, and the candidate must have a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A master's degree in higher education, leadership, or other related area, and three years of experience including graduate school experience, managing student organizations, large-scale event planning, and/or advising, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with student activities, student organization management, or student government preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills; ability to work within diverse group settings; and flexibility with varied work situations.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to social justice, student support, and development.
  • Demonstrated experience working in event planning, risk management, advising, and/or programming.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
