Longwood Gardens is seeking an Associate Director, Finishes Division to provide daily supervision, mentoring, training, project management, and a cohesive, consolidated approach to the carpentry, painting, glazing, welding, and fabrication activities in our facilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing our architectural elements in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Supervising and directing others who perform building-trades repairs, and maintenance duties.
  • Performing preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as mandated by local municipalities and per department requirements
  • Conducting rapid response, investigation, and management of all building envelopes or other architectural element emergency situations.
  • Managing all requests for building-trades service calls, evaluating requests and dispatching appropriate staff or contractors, follow-up and verifying completion of work, and expediting and approving payment for completed work.
  • Using appropriate CMMS programs and ensuring staff have a complete working knowledge of creating, closing, and tracking requests.
  • Reporting on opportunities for long-term or preventive maintenance, and other cost-saving measures necessary for the upkeep of LWG structures.
  • Ensuring inventory of parts and supplies is appropriate.
  • Reviewing specifications and bidding documents for required scheduled Service Contracts or contracted support for building-trades initiatives.
  • Maintaining productive relationships with internal departments, vendors, and critical business partners who perform services related to systems within the scope of responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related construction field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervising building-trades maintenance role.
  • Proven leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and professional writing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
