Jackson Park Hospital is a 200 + bed Safety Net Hospital. We are looking for a highly experienced candidate to become our Assistant Vice President of Nursing. Purpose for the Position:

Responsible for the governance decisions that define and execute the goals and strategies of the nursing department. The primary objective is to ensure quality patient care is provided in a cost efficient manner, in accordance with federal, state and local guideline, standards of practice and as directed by the administrative and governing of the hospital.

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop and direct the performance of the nursing department in compliance with standards, accreditation agencies, and the practice of nursing. Ensures continuity of management through appropriate selection, development, appraisal, reward and motivation of a competent staff. Maintains administration of and adherence to personnel policies. Organizes the functions of the nursing department through appropriate delegation of duties.

Ensures that nursing service meets standards and requirements of regulatory, governmental and surveying organizations. Establishes and monitors the department Quality Improvement Program; provide mechanism for regular review of the quality and appropriateness of the nursing service, initiates policies and functions to obtain achievable standards of nursing care.

Develop, administer, and implement goals, strategies, policies and procedures appropriate to the nursing department, administration and all regulatory bodies. Participate on various operational and planning committees as directed by the Executive Vice President/Administration to ensure compliance with licensing regulation by the State of Illinois, in accreditation by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies as they impact Jackson Park Hospital and the health care industry.

Develops and administer the nursing department's goals and strategies to compliment hospital objectives, and to constantly improve the quality of the nursing process. Ensures complimentary goal setting throughout the nursing department. Provide organizational structure and support for achieving stated objective.

Plans and implements budget goals and objectives which provide adequate personnel, equipment, and resources to meet the requirements and professional needs of the nursing department. Plans, develops, and implements the budgetary process, including guidance of the department managers in budgetary concerns: providing adequate equipment and resources to meet the requirements of the professional department of the hospital. Determines staffing requirement for each nursing unit, approves employment, increments, promotions and terminations of nursing personnel.

Maintain an organizational structure and climate that ensures a satisfying quality of work life. Ensures that a program for orientation, on the job training and continuing education is co-directed within the nursing department. Oversees college or university nursing programs which may use the hospital clinical facilities. Promotes continuous professional growth and development of nursing staff.

Evaluates the effectiveness and quality of education programs within the nursing department. Develop and maintains an effective system of communication that keeps staff informed of developments within the hospital and the department of nursing. Develops and promotes for inter-departmental relationship; coordinates programs that directly affect patient care; develops communication channels with other departments to promote and maintain an optimum patient care environment. Promotes ethical and human relations standards by serving as a role model.

Contributes to the decision-making process on hospital-wide issues. Maintains awareness of current trends and development in the hospital field through membership in the various hospitals, nursing administration associations, committees, and attends seminars and conferences sponsored by these organizations. Share expertise appropriately. Attends and serves on hospital committees, staff meeting and promotional programs.

Educational Requirements:

BSN and Masters Degree is REQUIRED

5+ years of Hospital leadership experience as a Chief Nursing Officer
