YOUR LIFE AS AN ASSISTANT TEACHER - PARAPROFESSIONAL
This full-time entry-level teaching position with our human services nonprofit works the day shift during business hours.
As an Assistant Teacher - Paraprofessional, you help create a positive classroom environment by assisting in caring for your student's physical and emotional needs. You are always ready to help with whatever the classroom teacher needs, including ordering supplies, supervising the class, designing classroom programs, ensuring the daily completion of the time-out log, providing written lesson plans, and organizing extracurricular activities.
Because of your dedication to the success and well-being of your students, you keep yourself familiar with individual student educational plans as well as develop and implement behavioral plans and incentive programs for their benefit. With professionalism, you work with children with various behavioral challenges, including physical aggression and verbal assault as well as inappropriate sexual comments, gestures, and actions. Outside of the classroom, you assist with recreational activities and work sites for students in the community. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- High school education or equivalent
- Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification
- Passion for working with children
A bachelor's degree and two years of experience working with children are preferred but not required. If you can meet these requirements and perform this teaching job as described above, we would be happy to have you as part of our human services team!
