Job Title: Learning Support Teacher


Reports To: Dean of Academics Lower School

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt / Hourly

Department: Learning Support

Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM


Summary:

The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain is a co-educational, independent school with approximately 575 students from Early Childhood through grade eight and 110 employees. Located in beautiful Summerlin near the entrance to Red Rock Natural Preserve and about 20 minutes from downtown Las Vegas, Alexander Dawson’s education reflects its Core Beliefs.


The Alexander Dawson School seeks a full-time learning support teacher to work with our Lower School Learning Support Team. As a learning support team member in the lower school, this position works with a team of educators to provide “right there” instruction to students in grades K-4 helping to meet the differentiated needs of the students. The candidate will provide “push-in” or small group support, primarily in the areas of literacy and math.


Essential Functions: The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Learning Support Team Member:

Instructional Support

  • Collaborate across grade level teams

  • Provide student support in push-in/pull-out models

  • Prepare and plan lessons for small group interventions/enrichment

  • Summarize student progress and provide feedback to teachers

  • Administer Dawson benchmark assessments

  • Conduct one-on-one student conferences

  • Facilitate whole group instruction

  • Serve in a substitute teacher role as needed

  • Assist with classroom prep (copying, bulletin boards, material preparation)

Education & Experience:

  • Experience working with elementary-aged students.

  • High level of computer technical skills required, utilizing Google Suite products, student information systems, and learning management systems

  • Preferred AA, BA, or BS in education-related field
