Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing support to both management and staff. The primary focus revolves around supporting staff with a boots-on-the-ground approach to provide top rate customer satisfaction in all aspects of the convenience store and fuel station through effective management of employees, staffing, product rotation and preparation, and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and local laws.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Shares responsibility with the Store Manager of managing all convenience store personnel.
  • Responsible for sourcing quality candidates and mentoring cashier and fuel attendant staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supports management and staff with merchandising questions, audit tasks, and goals.
  • Conducts Store Manager duties in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Acts as a liaison between vendors and Store Manager.
  • Conducts daily tours and delegates tasks as appropriate; follows-up to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Maintains store stocking levels, appropriate product rotation, and organize merchandise in a neat and attractive way to promote sales.
  • Processes payments, purchases, returns, and exchanges according to store policy.
  • Train, develop, and coach cashiers and fuel attendants on company policies to ensure that customers are assisted quickly, accurately, and in a friendly manner at all times.
  • Oversees incoming inventory and ensures freight is stocked to the sales floor in a timely manner.
  • Responds to staffing shortages or scheduling needs proactively and as quickly as possible to ensure customer service is not negatively impacted by scheduling issues.
  • Orders supplies and tools required by staff to assist customers and responds to facility maintenance and repair requests in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must maintain a fair and consistent set of standards that applies to all employees.
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as: computers, cash registers, calculators, scanners, fryers, oil filter, grill, beverage machines, and all other food prep related equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Required to make change, give refunds accurately, complete invoicing tasks, and to balance tills daily.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such a s safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Communicate professionally via phone, email, and in-person with customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Become knowledgeable about company’s products and services, to make proper recommendations of products and services sold.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with management, employees, office staff, vendors, and customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Must have excellent time management skills and meet deadlines while adjusting priorities to respond to business operation needs.
  • Ability to analyze retail reports concerning sales history, profit trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Required to maintain strict confidence of all sensitive employee and customer information.

Education and Experience:

  • Two or more years of related managerial retail experience or education equivalent required.
  • Experience with maintaining records and documentation in an organized and logical manner.
  • Experience completing employee improvement plans preferred.
  • Familiarity with restaurant business and retail environment is highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling required frequently to rearrange merchandise and verify stock levels.
  • Must lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Will work days, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
  • Will occasionally be scheduled to work at various company locations within the co-op.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements with fingers, hands, arms, wrists, & legs over long periods of time.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
