JOB SUMMARY
Forest Lawn’s dedicated Funeral Service Department is seeking a friendly individual with a professional demeanor to become a part of the team that has the privilege of having daily face-to-face contact with the families we serve. Our Assistant Service Directors are in charge of directing funeral and memorial services, prayer vigils and overseeing visitations. This position also aids in directing public events and various day-to-day activities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Pull caskets and flowers from the Mortuary building.
  • Transport flowers to the service location.
  • Encourage guests to sign the Memorial Book.
  • Assemble Casket Bearers and give instructions as to their function.
  • Fill in for the Service Director when necessary and fulfilling the needs of the Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have a caring and professional demeanor and enjoy helping families at a difficult time.
  • Should possess excellent public speaking skills.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift 100lbs.
  • Comfortable in standing for long periods in time.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be able to work on-site.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a previous mortuary/funeral service position.
  • Bilingual- Spanish preferred.

DRUG TESTING POLICY
Prior to beginning employment, all job applicants who receive a job offer will be required to voluntarily submit to a drug screening test conducted by a laboratory designated by Forest Lawn. The drug screening method is a hair collection test that will detect the use of illegal drugs within the past 90 days. A positive drug test may result in the withdrawal of the job offer.

Forest Lawn has registered to participate in the federal government's E-Verify program. With E-Verify we are able to confirm the employment authorization of all newly hired employees through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security.
