The Sociology Program at Oglethorpe University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor rank to begin July 2023. We seek a broadly trained sociologist with expertise in the study of race/ethnicity and one or more of the following subfields: social inequality, medical sociology, environmental sociology, quantitative methodologies and/or global/transnational sociology.
The successful candidate will be housed within the Sociology Program and contribute to one of the interdisciplinary programs offered at the university, to include African American Studies, Womens, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and the Core, Oglethorpes general education curriculum. Demonstrated experience and enthusiasm for teaching in a liberal arts setting is a must; the teaching load for this position is a 3/3. Faculty are also expected to maintain an active research agenda and contribute to departmental and university service.
A Ph.D. in Sociology at the time of appointment is required. ABD applicants will be considered if requirements of the Ph.D. will be completed by August 1, 2023.
