Department Description


The Forestry discipline is in the College of Natural Resources (CNR) at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The College supports premier undergraduate natural resources programs. The CNR has approximately 1,500 undergraduates, 100 graduate students, and over 130 faculty and staff. The college supports undergraduate natural resource program with disciplines in Fisheries and Water Resources, Forestry, Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management, Soil and Waste Resources, Wildlife Ecology and the Department of Paper Science and Chemical Engineering.

JOB DETAILS:


Position Summary


These two tenure track faculty positions are focused on the Arboriculture and Urban & Community Forestry option (UCF) in the Forestry Discipline. As faculty members of the UCF team, you will have the flexibility to teach courses within the core UCF area, including Arboriculture and Landscape Management, Functional Tree Biology, Nursery Management, Ornamental Trees and Shrubs, Tree Care Techniques, and Urban and Community Forestry. As a faculty members of the UW-Stevens Point CNR, the candidates have responsibilities for undergraduate teaching (100%), 12 credits per semester. Along with scholarship and service activities. This position will report directly to the Dean of the College. Teaching during the Summer Field Experience program for additional compensation is expected. In addition, the opportunity exists to develop on-line curriculum in UCF and/or utility vegetation management. Opportunities exist for involvement in research, outreach, and international programs to meet University scholarship and service requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Qualifications


  • Ph.D. earned or near completion in Urban & Community Forestry (UCF), Arboriculture, Greenspace Management, Horticulture or a related field . Earned terminal degree will be required within the first academic year of employment.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree in Forestry or Horticulture
  • Demonstrated experience in UCF, arboriculture, greenspace management, horticulture or a field related to the option
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students in UCF, arboriculture, or a related field
  • Outreach experience working with utility companies, state agencies, municipalities, or commercial tree care companies
  • Research experience involving undergraduate and/or graduate students

This is a tenure-track, academic year based faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
