Our Assistant General Counsel, Compliance and Regulatory will manage compliance initiatives, stay up to date on regulatory changes affecting our business, and work closely with our business teammates to find legally compliant solutions that address business needs. The role requires consistent growth and high-quality execution from a process-driven professional who actively prioritizes integrity, business enablement, and continual process improvement.

What you will do:
  • Manage other compliance attorney(s)
  • Research, interpret and monitor federal and state laws, regulations and industry rules, and standards to ensure the company is fully compliant with legal and industry requirements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement strategies for building out the overall legal and ethics compliance program
  • Provide strategic direction and counsel to internal business teammates on regulatory compliance matters
  • Develop, maintain, and implement new and existing policies
  • Develop ethics and compliance training and company-wide communications on various compliance topics
  • Oversee and provide support in connection with internal investigations
  • Design an audit and monitoring program to ensure compliance policies and procedures are followed
and identify and investigate any compliance issues, including, milestones, metrics and reporting
  • Implement corrective action when compliance with policies or regulations is lacking.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to maintain a solid knowledge of the company’s business,
drive compliance initiatives, and address legal compliance risks related to business initiatives and new product launches
  • Participate in various internal committees including the ethics and risk committees
  • Assist with responses to questionnaires and audits, compliance diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions, and litigation
  • Undertake special projects and business initiatives as needed
What you will need:
  • A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
  • Admission to the bar in New York state, or admission in another state
  • Project or program management experience
  • 10+ years working in a compliance and/or regulatory role
  • Experiences in the following areas are a plus:
  • Compliance team management
  • Operational audit
  • Designing and presenting trainings
  • Financial lending, auto industry, or online marketplace
  • Working with regulators
  • Privacy compliance
