BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Direct the daily care and case management of the residential treatment facility youth at St. Francis. Promotes and maintains a healthy living and working environment for clients and staff and strives to assure that the optimal achievable quality of care is available to all patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plays an integral part in the multi-disciplinary treatment team of Saint Francis Ministries.

Ensures the health and safety of the clients.

Oversees documentation of each youth's weekly progress reports.

Oversees coordination of services with outside facilities and health care providers.

Oversees coordination of scheduled appointments with outside facilities for wrap around services.

Capable of being on-call for emergency transportation.

Oversees weekly progress notes by direct care staff.

Supervises direct care staff in a daily manner (attends shift change meetings, provides for information flow to shift lead staff and nursing staff, oversees annual employee review processes for these staff.)

Oversees the recreation coordinator, primary counselors and youth service workers work schedule.

Completes utilization review duties.

Oversees the youth grievance process.

Reports and assures staff report critical incidents to DFPS verbally within 12 hours, written within 24 hours.

Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state and local rules, statutes, regulations, and all term of the contract between Saint Francis Ministries and DFPS

Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.

Ensures clients' rights are protected. Makes sure all clients have received their rights and maintains a signed copy in each resident file.

Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Other duties as assigned.

Will participate in a minimum of 40 hours in-service education per year.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's in human services.

Must be 21 years of age.

Must pass a drug screen and TB Skin Test.

FBI Fingerprint Check.

Submit to a Criminal History and DFPS History Check.

Pass a Centralized Background Check through the Texas Health and Human Services Eligibility and any background checks deemed to be necessary.

Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Lifting requirements of 50 lbs.

Basic understanding of adolescent development, treatment and defense mechanisms.

Working knowledge of adolescent counseling techniques, both individual and group.

Must understand various diagnoses in the adolescent mental health field and understand recommended treatment for those illnesses.

Ability to listen, analyze and record information.

Establish rapport and impart caring and empathy while remaining objective and professional in relationship.

Will have a basic understanding of different psychotropic medications and possible side effects from those medications.
