Position Summary:

Assists the Director of Quality with the basic functions and duties as outlined below, when delegated:

Hillwood Airways is seeking an Assistant Director of Quality to assist the Director of Quality (DQ) in managing all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) related activities for the Company. Additionally, this individual will assist the DQ by holding the Company and 14 CFR 119.65 position of Chief Inspector (CI) throughout the manual set as well as report to the Accountable Executive (AE) and have a direct line of communication to the AE for quality issues.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer effective standards of quality and airworthiness for Company aircraft.
  • Interface with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance departments to ensure safety and compliance with applicable CFRs are maintained.
  • Act as liaison between the Company and the FAA on quality-related issues.
  • Establish procedures to identify the level of authority and qualifications for the Quality Department.
  • Coordinate and authorize Required Inspection Item (RII) Authorized Technicians.
  • Conduct surveillance of work performed at all maintenance and contract maintenance facilities utilized by the Company.
  • Ensure that all required inspections are completed and documented in accordance with procedures defined in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM).
  • Prepare, maintain, and ensure compliance with the Weight & Balance Control Program approved for the Company.
  • Exercise oversight to the time limitations/restrictions defined in the Company approved Minimum Equipment List (MEL) are tracked, complied with, and the aircraft is not released for Air Carrier Operations when an MEL time limit or required inspection time limit may be exceeded.
  • Prepare required reports and recommendations on airworthiness compliance, mechanical interruption summary, approved maintenance provider, and Service Difficulty Reports (SDR).
  • Establish auditing standards and checklists.
  • Manage the oversite of the receiving inspection program.
  • Responsible for the AD Management Program.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director of Quality.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess strong critical thinking skills.
  • Must possess good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, cross-functional departments, and all levels of management.
  • Extensive knowledge of 14 CFR Part 121 Operating Requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Hold a mechanic certificate with both airframe and powerplant ratings and have held these ratings for at least 3 years.
  • Have at least 3 years of maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes with 10 or more passenger seats with an air carrier or certificated repair station, 1 year of which must have been as maintenance inspector.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in a supervisory capacity maintaining the same category and class of aircraft (B-737) as the certificate holder uses.
